It’s that time of the year again, when aircrafts of various size, shape and design from across the world take to Bengaluru skies to wow us. The annual aero show is back in a bigger and better avatar, and with Prime Minister Narendra Modi slated to be in the city to witness the show, security has been beefed across Bengaluru. In fact, to allow the PM a smooth ride to the venue, several city roads are getting a facelift, and while on the topic of facelifts it would be wise to also consider just what to wear if you are heading out to catch some of the aerial action.
Comfort is the mantra: You need to be comfortable in what you wear, as you will be spending hours together outdoors under the sun. Clothes in linen and cotton will be ideal, and women can choose dresses, trousers, shorts or skirts, while men would be best kitted out in trousers and well-tailored shorts.
Head out in style: The show will give you a chance to flaunt head gear, but make sure they are not the formal kind one would normally wear for an appearance at the derby. Opt for straw hats that will not only make you look stylish, but also protect you from the sun. And, don’t forget to keep those shades handy!
Ditch high heels: Stay away from those high heeled shoes that you bought recently. Instead, opt for something more comfortable that will allow you to stand for hours together and not leave you with a backache later. Loafers or sandals would be best for men.
Travel light: You might have to walk quite a bit to get from the parking areas to the actual venue, so make sure that you are not carrying too many bags with you.
Avoid traffic woes: The office of the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) has suggested certain traffic arrangements in view of the event, which will have a lot of high-profile dignitaries and VIPs visiting the city. B Dayananda, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said, “We have made proper arrange for traffic from February18-22 when the aero show will be on. We advise people to follow the signboards from the Hebbal flyover till the airport for a hassle-free drive. There will be two types of parking available. Citizens need to plan their journey a little ahead to avoid traffic jams. Visitors to the aero show are advised to use the service road, so that the highway remains relatively free for those heading to the airport or out of the city. It is also advisable to use public transport to the aero show, as the vehicles have better access to the venue.”
